    Default AR Dismountable barrel assembly?

    I like shooting paper

I've got a build in the works that could just as well not be an auto loader.

With no gas tube, and barrel nut timing to consider, what might be the ins and outs of a "soft" barrel nut on an AR upper?

"Spec" tightening torque gives a LOT of leeway.

I'm thinking "bed the barrel to the upper spigot", and then produce a barrel nut cum fore grip that can be twisted home by hand. (plus a nudge ;-)

I am concerned that the lining up pin and slot is not sufficient to allow repeatable sighting. But there may be ways around that detail (add pins and slots etc.)

Any one tried such an idea? might make a useful take down rifle that would fit in a smallish hard case.
