I have inherited my father's college, gunsmithing project built under the guidance of P.O. Ackley. The sportsterized Arisaka in .300 Savage has harvested a LOT of deer and has tremendous, sentimental value. Unfortunately, it is no longer safe to shoot. The bolt is so loose in the receiver, the trigger mechanism will not reliably engage the firing pin. Per Ackley's preference, it was converted to cock-on-open. The weld modification of the bolt is also worn. Wish to employ a talented gunsmith to restore. Barring such, could probably do machine work in my shop with experienced advise. Being the consummate perfectionist, am at a loss for the best solution.
