Can anyone help me with the size and thread of this screw? The internet is not cooperating for helping. It’s the front screw on the rear base, holds the base to the barrel. I think it’s a #5-40 or 44. All I have at this point is the screw head, the rest is still in the barrel and not coming out very easily. Thanks

On the original Challenger that came out in the early 60's, it is 5-40. If you have a vertical mill, you can drill it out with an Omega drill: 5/64" Drill, 3/8" Flute Length, Solid Carbide, Tap Extractor Drill: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific
A regular HSS drill will work if you can get it started in the center of the screw shank. However, the above carbide drill is much stiffer and easier to get started.

RWO. Thanks, this is a Challenger 2 but sounds like probably the same thing. I have left hand drilled it hoping it may back out but no such luck. My extractor that small went MIA but got another today.
