Drop Box magazine bottom metal

I have a full custom long action bolt rifle that has feeding issues (35 Whelen Ackley Improved) due to the geometry of the follower and magazine box. The bottom metal is for a 1903 Springfield and that third round always gets hung up and the bolt rides right over the top of it. I have tried altering the follower and and it does not seem to help. So, I was going to go to a center feed, single stack drop box magazine..however, finding one that has the correct hole spacing, 7.75", is proving harder than I thought. The only one I can find is for a Ruger M77 MKII, but not sure if it will fit correctly.

Has any one had to convert something like this? I suppose I could tig some rails to the action and re mill the opening to make it center feed and not staggered. I just did not want to have to do anything to the action. Was thinking maybe making an entire DBM trigger guard/bottom metal out of aluminum.
