Hi,
I moved to MN recently. And I have a lot of free time and interest in machining, so, if anyone wants to have some spare hands, or help in builds - I'm all in. I moved from Russia, so - building was a theoretical before, for me, because of very restrictive laws. Now, it's a form of volunteering and way to meet new people, chat, share experience and so on.

Unless you're specifically interested in Gunsmithing, you might try the Antique and/or Rebuilders sub-forums on here. Those guys might be able to use some extra hands.

Not only. Aviation, boats, cars, bikes. I'm into any mechanics, honestly. My main degree is heavy machinery design. But mostly i worked in IT, and mechanics and machinery is a hobby. Woodworking as well, though. The pergola I've built back in Russia:

Well, if you plan to run for president not as a socialist in future... that could be considered as disadvantage.

Curiosity mostly. And I take a break from Russian bullshit, pardon my French. I like MN, for sure. Nice nature, good infrastructure, very nice people. I'm only 3 months here, though, so not so much seen yet.

Welcome to PM and also to USA
What sort of BS did you leave behind? I ask because there is no shortage of BS here. Maybe the grass is greener on the other side of the fence?

Oh. There's pretty long list. What comes to my mind first:
Recent tax hikes.
10 year economy stagnation.
Internet regulations - there's a widespread censorship, and it gets worse.
-25% of gun owners for the last year only (down from 6 million to less than 4.5).
Anti-west rhetoric intensifies.
Corruption. (up to 70% of budget go god knows where).
Overrepresented government in economy. 75% of all companies are government owned or under control.

I thought about a vertical mill for myself, to make some fun projects. Aluminum stock for CZ 455 for example. But all that stuff...

Hey guys I live in Minnesota too. I’m in Minneapolis. Im not a gunsmith, but I do have and shoot firearms. I was in the army and learned some basic gunsmithing stuff there.

These days I’m a knife maker. Anyway I’m new to the forum, but I’ve been really interested in learning how to use mills to make parts and tools for knife making. And always looking to meet new people with similar hobbies!

What kind of knives? Blacksmithing or you prefer to work with half-done blades?
Mills are nice, just require too much space.
