What is silver

The content of Ag in the earth's crust is very small, accounting for only 1×10-5%. There are elemental natural silver in nature, but it is mainly produced in a compound state. Pure silver is silvery white, with a melting point of 960.8°C, a boiling point of 2210°C, and a density of 10.49 g/cm3. Silver is a face-centered cubic lattice, with good plasticity, second only to gold in ductility, but when it contains a small amount of As, Sb, and Bi, it becomes very brittle. Silver has good chemical stability and does not oxidize at room temperature.

Devices for silver melting

For melting large amounts of silver in industry, medium frequency electric melting furnace is generally used.

MF electric melting furnace compared with other equipments has many advantages:

melting fast

high effiency

low consumption

save energy

Precautions for silver melting

1. Before working, check the crucible for cracks.

2. There should be no accumulated water around the furnace and in the pit in front of the furnace, and no irrelevant items should be stacked.

3. The charge should be inspected, and its variety, specification, and size should meet the requirements. Strictly check the charge for explosives. Adding charge must be preheated and dry, and the adding speed should be slow

4. The tools used for sampling, smelting and pouring must be preheated before use.

5. Pay attention to air circulation, and the ventilation and exhaust devices should be normal and good.

6. After smelting and pouring, first straighten the crucible and clamp it out of the furnace.

7. When pouring molten metal, it should not be overfilled to prevent the molten metal from splashing and causing burns. The remaining molten metal is not allowed to be poured randomly.

8. Sprinkle water on the stove, not on the stove wall. The bottom of the furnace (for solid fuel furnaces) is not allowed to spray water when there are people.
