Trigger guard keeps opening during normal operation while using standard ball ammo. What can be the cause, and how can I fix the problem.
Thanks in advance.

Trigger Guard acts as Spring. Might need more bend added to it.
It might have been through a fire and annealed, and just refinished...

Still common and not too pricy
Trigger Guard Notch, or Hook might be worn also.

Stock Bedding could be beat/smashed loose, if it has been fired much like that....

Is the hook on the Trigger Guard and notch on the Trigger Housing in good shape?

Most likely there is not enough tension on the Trigger Guard (TG). If you can pull the TG rearward to release it from the locked position without pulling pretty darn hard, it needs to be adjusted.

Bend the part of the TG behind the Trigger to move it closer to the Trigger SLIGHTLY. Then try it again. If you have a milled TG you may need to remove the TG from the housing to do this.

It might also be there is too much wood where the stock meets the Trigger Group. Some of the new CMP stocks don't let the TG get very far before you have to really push on it to get it into the locked position.

Steve.
