So a customer has given me a(true) Marlin made Marlin 1894 lever rifle chambered in 44 Rm.
It's not a "REMlin" with the "new style" parts as listed and called by Numrich.

The carrier (cartridge lifter) is worn out beyond service. The gun gets the classic "Marlin Jam" every time ya work the lever. Jams tight requiring lever to be removed to unjam the rifle.

I can't find a new, "old style" carrier anywhere.

1. Anybody know a source for a new "old style carrier" (has the rocker in the side.)

2. If I put a new style carrier in it (has a plunger button in the side) what all other "new style parts" have to be changed out? (According to Remington, several.)

3. I welded up the ramp that the "snail cam" on the lever interfaces with and machined it back down to spec. No help. The carrier is just pretty much worn in every critical dimension.

Any body know anything at all that can help??

Thanks!

the fix is you mill the carrier and fit it with a piece of hardened steel.
do a web search there are a few pages that talk about it.
Cowboy action shooter deal with it frequently.
same fix for, old ones or the new ones.
one guy used a piece of jigsaw blade and glued it on with jb weld.

and they are picky about ammunition both col and bullet shape.
you might want to pass on this job refer the guy to one of the
guys who do marlins for the cowboy shooter
