Have a Taurus Tracker 357 and a scope sight base intended for the .17 caliber handgun. The .17 sight base is only held down by one 6-40 screw via the former rear sight stake (and a forward set screw to apply tension)...but I want to use mount on the 357 revolver. What is a suggested number of anchor points required?

I can install another screw thru the top strap 1/2" forward of the existing 6-40 hole and another thru the barrel or top strap above the forcing cone.

Do you think the rear two by themselves is sufficient?

You need the holes as far apart as possible. Put some shims under the forward hole so you can tighten the screw without bending the mount.

Plan on using a light weight red dot scope...S&W uses (4) screws thru the top strap (close together)on their revolvers and they hold up well. May just make one that is flush from front to back (or just use this one), install (2) screws (total) via the top strap and one up front thru the thickest area of the top strap above the forcing cone?

You could do a rough calculation of the G forces that pistol is going to see during a firing cycle.

Newton's LAWS have to be good for something. F=ma and all that gibberish
