Poor Man’s Barrel Flush System Under $20

Well guys I finally got my barrel flush system completed. I’ll probably do a video on it to show people how easy it is to build. I brainstormed which motor to use, as I have about four motors here that would’ve done the trick, but I decided to use the lathe motor and mount the pump to the lathe. I made a v pulley for the pump that was slightly larger then the lathe pulley, which puts the RPMs around 1500 for the power steering pump. Considering that power steering pumps run anywhere from 200 psi up to a couple thousand it should have plenty of pressure. I haven’t run a test barrel yet though. I didn’t do a return line since I use a medium size pan under the chamber to catch the oil. Fills up 3 times during a 300 rum chambering.

Parts list:
1999 Saab power steering pump $17 shipped
Old propane tank for reservoir - free
Misc plumbing - free
Rotary coupling off old fire hose roll - free (might need to upgrade due to higher pressures)
4”x6” chunk of 1/8”plate for mounting plate with 4 bolts welded to it.
More details in the video. Hope it helps. You don’t have to spend $500 to get a good system.
