I need a good action wrench for a Remington 700 that enters from the rear of the action and turns with a large hex head wrench. I take alot of factory barrels off and would like to use my impact wrench. Davidson mades one but its not for removing factory barrel. Any ideals out there. Could anyone male me one????

I use a rear entry action wrench regularly to install barrels on a variety of actions. I would NOT use one to remove a factory barrel because of the risk of twisting the receicer, unless a relief ring has been cut in the barrel just in front of the receiver ring to release torque. This is a useful technique if the barrel is not going to be reused, or if it is going to be set back, and rechambered.

A relief ring can be cut with a jewelers saw very close to the receiver ring on the barrel resulting in a minumum removal of barrel material. Rotate the receiver and barrel in the lathe at a slow rpm and be careful to avoid too much pressure on the blade as they are fragile.
