Remington 700 Stainless barrel finish

I use glass potters beads in my blast cabinet. Do not use any type of abrasive.

For a perfect Match, disassemble the receiver and blast it along with the barrel.

Note the barrel threads are masked, the chamber end is plugged and the muzzle has a disc of electrical tape to keep the beads out of the bore. Be sure to clean the beads out of the receiver prior to assembly.

Another way to protect barrel threads and the bore. A steel rod, threads on each end. With a nylon cap over the threads and a rubber grommet on the muzzle end.

Silver.....,
Do you blast when the action and barrel are together also, or always take apart?

Always full disassembly. And a full degrease in solvent.

Otherwise you have a barreled action full of glass beads. Cannot get them totally out when the barrel is in the receiver.

After the bead blasting, I blow out all parts with compressed air. Then a wash in solvent to be sure all the glass beads are gone.

Then a bit of extreme pressure grease on the barrel threads before installing the barrel. Otherwise you risk seizing, especially with stainless on stainless.

Happiness is a heavy duty barrel vise and stout action wrenches.
