Hello. What is the smallest lathe I can get away with for barrel chambering between centers? Not just from a length standpoint but will smaller lathes have the power
I have a 40” bed and I’ve chambered a 25” finished length barrel between centers. Never paid too much attention but I bet it would be hard pressed to go much past 28-30” given the length of my machine’s tail stock.
Been my experience that it doesn’t take a lot of power to do barrel work. Cuts are fine for the most part.
