Hey all,

I muddling through getting an old tm1 operational for our small prototype shop. There is no way of transferring programs to this machine except through rs232. I have never used dnc before and am unsure of a few things.

1. How do I see how much memory the machine has to be able to load/run a program?

2. Is a DNC software required to transfer programs via usb rs232 to machine memory?

3.Can I load a file through to memory through dnc via USB?

Also actively looking for suggestions on what DNC software you'd purchase today if you had to. Keep in mind, I only need to drip 1 machine.

Thanks,
Aaron

Not sure how big of files you need to run, but if you wanna skip the crappy 3.5" check out the link I posted.
$30 and an hour and you can replace it with this USB drive.
I did mine and could not be happier!
My r232 port does not work and the 3.5 was horribly unreliable.

It will emulate a floppy disk,
It formats the USB into hundreds of 1.44meg patricians. All representing a 3.5". You can store on all of them and have a big catalog if you want.
I just keep all my programs on fusion 360 and rewrite them when needed. I keep nothing in the cnc anymore.
