Can a direct drive VF3SS Handle 1.50 dia. indexable drills? We use in 2 speed gear boxes with no issues. Running 1.433 dia with a 2120 RPM WITH A FEED RATE OF 7IPM in A514 PLATE.

You need a more descriptive title or the thread will be locked. Forum rules require a title that gives enough information that a member doesn't need to click on it to se what it's about.

Something like your entire first sentence would be ideal.

In plastic? No problem. Aluminum? Probably. Inconel? Not at recommended feed and speed, that's for sure.

My closest reference point is a VF-3SS will handle a 3/4" inserted spade drill in 17-4 H900 just fine.

We run a 1.875 in 17-4 stainless at 100 percent load no problem
