Haas lcd screen turning on and off issue

Hello everyone,

I have a 2001 Haas vf-oe and it has developed a problem I have never seen before. I have an aftermarket lcd screen that has been installed for a year now.
Now it has started to have a fuzzy pattern of dots on the screen and the monitor goes black and flashes on for a few seconds then goes black and repeats this over and over intermittently. Buy here is the confusing part if the spindle is running it stays on and has clearer picture on the screen.

Note: The monitor will show the settings screen when the data cable is not plugged in perfectly clear without flickering.

Has anyone run into this before?

Thanks guys

Sounds like something trying to ground to it. With the spindle on you add another ground point to the machine thru the vfd ground being opened. Our plasma was doing similar recently- me and an electrician tried to find the culprit and couldn't- removing the monitors power supply from the machines circuit solved the problem (and cheap ferrite chokes on all computer tied lines). I still lean that it is one of the axis servos having its shielded cable grounding tail lost. It would be fine until you energized the axis drives - then fine minus when the plasma was in hf pilot for pierce.

While looking over the machine I have noticed that the the machine turns on and runs perfectly for about 5min.
After that the screen begins to turn on and off and show like a static on the screen.
When the screen begins to play up the light on the board pictured begins to flash. It stays solid while the spindle is running and while the screen is initially working correctly.
I am unsure as to what direction this information would point me.

nowhere, that is just light indicators for the tower i believe. so no, nothing special. your issue will be with the screen and the back of it most likely, or like above, the data lines are getting interference and static/magnetism built up from a lack of sheilding ground from a high voltage source.

I had a similar issue. I ended up putting the old screen back in. My gut feeling was that the video card was slightly off or something, and the screen would lose sync.
