Need a collet chuck for my HRT 100 local HFO wasnt any help.

I Was hoping for a 5c, but seem to coming up dry for an option that is a direct fit.

Anybody have a lead on a good option they curently use?

Thanks
Alex

The through bore is only 0.75in or 19mm.

If you want to have continuous rotation you the easiest and cheapest solution is a manually actuated chuck. There are many options available for 5c, ER collets etc for lathes that would only need an adapter plate, or to be drilled and pinned to be utilized.

If you need to have it pneumatically actuated you can use the 5c air collet holder from eagle rock, but you have to limit the rotation so you don't wrap up the lines. I suppose if you got clever with it you could space the collet holder off the plate and feed the air lines down through the bore, and into a rotary union on the Otherside. These are nice since they pretty much don't shift the part at all when closing, so you don't have to compensate for that, not that that's a huge deal. These are great, love them.

The other option would be something with a through bore puller, this would have to be made custom because of the small 3/4 bore. It would also limit the diameter you can put through. This could be manual or pnuematically actuated, keep in mind these will be the most expensive since it would have to be custom.

D-farms,
Thanks for the info, I am going for the manually actuated one for sure.

Was just trying to avoid an adapter plate if possible

I used to just mount my 5C collet holders to the face.

I made up a shaft that tapped into the bore of the HRT with a 1" shaft protruding.

Side the 1" shaft into the back of the collet, lock and insert into the HRT for location. Bolt holder in place, loosen the collet and tap the shaft out the back. I was usually within .001-.002 and that could be fine tuned if needed.

I also made up a couple adapter rings to fit chucks in place. Easy once you have the sizes and a CNC lathe, plug numbers in and go.
