Hello, I have a Haas Minimill 2 ,
there was a fire in the adjacent building and power has been removed from the building.
Once I am allowed to remove the Mill I need to bring it to my home (garage) but I need to lower the head all the way down.
Does anyone know how to release what ever brake is on this so I can manually lower the head?
Much appreciated.

Call your local HFO tech support people if no one posts up here. The factory will help too, but they prefer you call the local guys first.
good luck!

The brake is electronic. Don't release it thinking you can then manually turn the screw to lower the head.
As soon as the brake releases, the head will slam to the table.
Same with removing the Z-servo motor. Head will again crash down to whatever is under it.

Should be pretty simple to support the head with a block of wood and a floor jack or bottle jack, then remove the servo and lower the head that way.

Before you pull the Z axis servo motor, mark the position of the servo motor sheave and the z ballscrew sheave. You want to reinstall it in the same position as you removed it.
