I am ready to put my head cover back on but the sound dampening material inside the cover is in a disgusting state: It is crumbling and soaked with oil.

Can I strip this off and replace it with something???

Does anyone have some product pointers?

Does Haas sell this stuff?

I used fancy adhesive sheets from the car audio store.
Worked fantastic. Probably overkill.
As above McMaster is probably your best bet

No, I actually went into a store for it, haha.
No name brand on the spare sheets in my tool box.
Been a while, but they where called something along the line of “mass loaded sound dammping sheets.” They are surprising heavy for there size. Around 3/16 thick 12”24” sheets.
Clean surface warm sheet and apply. When they are warm they are extremely sticky!

Marine engine compartment sound absorbers

Another option is to make use of sound absorbers designed for use in marine engine compartments. For example, I have used the 1 in. Soundown foam panel insulation described in the following link very successfully.

The spray adhesive acts just like a contact cement.

For spray adhesive I researched 3M's product line. Seems the best one was:

"3M Hi-Tack 76 Spray Adhesive"

This is both heat resistant and strong.

I also installed an aluminum rail to clamp the foam to the panel to make extra sure it doesn't fall.
