Spindle break In

Does haas break in the spindle at the factory or do I have to do it?

The tech is coming back tomorrow to mount the rotary and to set up the probe and I asked him today before leaving what was left and he said you could actually make a cut “I’m not going to until he’s finished” but I was still wondering if a break in needed to be performed other than warm up.

So what say y’all?

At least with my older mills there's a "Purge" program as well as a warmup, the purge being longer and holding RPM for a while to allow excess oil to be pushed out the nose if the spindle's been still for a while. If there's still such a program on the new machines I'd try that, maybe at 50% for one run, then full for the second, then go with warmups in the morning.

I do think it's a good idea to "break in" a spindle, others here just say run it. Eh, Haas spindles are cheap enough, and easy to replace, not the end of the world if you don't get every last minute from them.

Supposedly the machines are ready to go, yet haas still does have a dedicated run in program in the 0900 folder.
