Just a conversation started.
I see Haas now offers 2 different 10,000. Rpm spindle (vf series)
A greased packed around the $6500 range and a oil lubricated around $5700 (I could be off on the prices)

What are your thoughts on the benefits/drawback of each option?

I'm a little supprized the greased costs more.

I guess grease you never have to wonder if the lube system is working, but then again I've seen lots of waxed up grease in my day
(Worked in an electric motor rebuild shop )

Anywhoo, what's your thoughts?

The oil lubed spindles are quieter but use a decent amount of air. The 12k SS spindle uses 4.1cfm. My 5hp compressor runs 25% of the time supplying one spindle.

From what I understand, the grease spindles are a bit more finicky and are more expensive to repair. That 10k grease is pretty special stuff. Does anyone know if high rpm greased spindles last like air oil spindles? My guess is they won't. Air oil is pretty tried and proven, I think I'd go that way with a new machine.
