Tweaking a Haas TM1 Mill to cut nice circles without bumps

Here is something that might help a few Haas mill owners. Friction compensation is for when an axis reverses, instead of moving .0001 it may move lets say .0003 to over come the friction. This changes with time and probably other factors.

Parameter 138 is for the X axis and 139 is for the Y. My machine had X at -200 and Y at -150. Occasionally I check it like this. I set up a dial indicator on the spindle measuring each axis and move the corresponding axis a few tents and back. You may find that when reversing .0001 it jumps .0002 or .0003. Set the parameter so when you move .0001 the dial indicator moves .0001. This is a good place to start, then take a test cut. Mine is currently set at X 138 = -100 and Y 139 = -50.

To change this parameter you have to go into setting 7 and turn parameter lock off and do remember to turn it back on.
