This seems like the place to address board functional issues. If it's not, please move as required.
For quite awhile, the ignore list has been a helpful feature of this site, allowing me to enjoy the comments of most without extreme views, racist comments, etc. from disrupting that enjoyment.
Lately, a user who had earned a place on my list achieved a status which apparently negates my earlier choice.
Said user has two confirmed log-in names with another possible one, using just the widely-known first name. Multiple others are possible under non-obvious screen names, of course.
I understand the need for participants of a certain managerial status to be non-blockable, and have no quarrel there.
There are two areas of discussion...
First, should a user have a separate log-in for private participation, vs. managerial participation, so we know which hat is being worn? And should the private participation one remain blockable as in the past?
A second alternative -- should managerial blocking be possible in all areas except those in which said user has 'jurisdiction'? In other words, my blocking list is honored except in the specific forum user currently has managerial responsibilities.
I suppose either would suffice. Of course, there are quite a few other possible solutions as well.
Obviously, some contributions to this thread will be ignored.
