Hi All,

I am helping a friend work out details on a 1970’s~ Martin shaper. The machine uses ********* 6212-TB-P5 oil bath bearings and the machine manufacturer requests the user to use their special oil....only available via shipping from Germany.

I can’t find any specs on what lube to use, so any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Brian

Thousands of "ball type" bearings in machine tools thrive on such as Mobil DTE Heavy Medium (ISO 68), Medium (ISO 46) and Light (ISO 32) - depending on operating speeds

Hi John,

Thanks for the response, sounds like an excellent choice. The operating RPM is 9000. I presume lighter fit higher speeds, am I correct?

That is on up there - might go for such as Mobil Velocite 6 which is ISO 10. Need a way to check running temperature of oil bath - even if it is just the palm of your hand on the case.

I'd guess that if you cannot do a hands-on for any length of time (due to HOT) that you really do need the stuff from the Father Land
