I want to cut a 111 teeth gear on a 40.1 dividing head. I have already manufacture a plate with a 111 holes. I just want to know is it 40 holes out of 111 plate

Your not going to be able to cut 111 on a plain index head your going to need a differential index head. If you could use 110 that's 12 holes on a 33 hole plate.

This is all in Machinery's Handbook.

The way it works is 40 (the proposed number of "holes" and actually spaces) divided by 111 = .36036

,36036 times 9 degrees = 3.243243 degrees (9 degrees is one full turn on the 40:1 DH)

3.243243 degrees times 111 is 360 degrees

So, yes, 40 spaces (this will amount to 41 holes) showing between your arms

But DEFINITELY scratch cut every 111 of them to see how it looks before serious metal removal
