Man what a project it's been getting my Hitachi Seiki HT-25 with FANUC 10T control, making parts. Purchased used. Buyer beware. You get what you pay for. Lol. Started out with sticky micro switches. Then there were glazed over contacts on EVERY push button on control causing intermittent signals. Get er making parts. But feed and rapid rates aren't being controlled by the program, rather the JOG feed control knob. Still not sure what that's about. And yes door is closed. But sure enough, once the part is dialed in there seems to be an aroma of burning motor windings. And a little smoke coming up from under the machine. Overload protection kicks in and shuts machine down. So do to a cooling fan from a YASKAWA ELECTRIC, MARK II, AC SPINDLE MOTOR, TYPE EEA-IKM,**SER.NO. S42525721*I've lost another couple days of productivity. And yes what hair I may have had is about gone. Lol. So I've pulled out this spindle drive motor, because there just isn't any easy way to service the beast while in the machine, and find a good reason for this cooling fan motor to be burned up. The wire end cap screen is just caked with grime. The fan is a TOBISHI KASAN Co. Not sure of the numbers, but based off an Ebay find maybe 4710 PS-20W-B30 200V 50/60Hz. So now I'm in the process of trying to locate either a replacement or close match that'll work. Might a Fanuc spindle cooling fan work?
Moral of story I guess is. It may be a tight space but don't forget to get in there and clean that screen off, or you'll be SOL.
