Hi, I have an Emco Super 11 with a D1-4 Spindle.
I have measured the run out of the spindle as follows:
Inner bore (mt5 short taper) - 0.003mm
Outer nose taper - 0.006mm
Nose taper flat - 0.009mm
Register face - 0.003mm
Is this normal?
I tried to tighten the preload on the bearings, but it is very hard to turn the wrench, and the spindle still runs freely (no binding).
When I place a thick copper bar in the rear of the spindle, and pull, I either get no movement at the front of the spindle or every now and again around 0.005mm movement.
I also checked the spindle and it seems to be tilted down, around a 0.005mm drop over 2 inches (assuming the outer spindle face is flat).
