    Thanks again for leading this!

Can you post (or email if preferred) a mailing address so we can send checks?

Sure, I was slowly working through the list one person at a time, but this would speed things up.

Along with your check, please include your shipping address and the number of vials (on the same piece of paper). If you want something other than USPS Priority Flat Rate small box, write that down, too. I don't want to transcribe return addresses off of envelopes and keep track of which envelope went with which check.

Estimated ship date from Level Developments is 27 March. Their quote was for delivery in 4 weeks, now it looks like ship in 4 weeks. Not sure how long trans-Atlantic shipping will take. By air could be as little as 2-3 days to my location. And then I need a few days to repackage and ship out USPS (or your preferred method) to you guys.

So from the info in the thread
    Vial cost is $24.64 (total)
Ship cost $8.30 (USPS flat rate small box)
    Total - $32.94 - call it $33
    Is this the correct amount?
Mail check to above address post #62 - include shipping address and number of vials( on shipping address label)

You will be doing a lot of running around - I'll round up to $35 which should buy you most of a cup of coffee

    Looks good!

I expect to bring a good sized carton full of flat-rate small boxes to the PO counter when the day comes. Other than that, I'm doing most of my running around for this sitting in front of the computer.

And if your PM forum name isn't obviously related to your real name, please add the PM forum name to that piece of paper (or email me with PM name = real name info), because it's the forum name I've been using to keep track of things so far. (Obvious in retrospect, I will remember this if there's ever a "next time".)

Payment sent. Real name to PM handle in the envelope and written on the check. I also included some pre-printed shipping address labels for you.

For the folks paying by PayPal, PayPal takes $0.30 off the top, then 2.9% of what's left.

If you want me to receive $32.94 for one vial ($24.64) plus shipping ($8.30) via Paypal, you need to send 32.94/0.971 + 0.30 or $34.22. If you don't want to spend the extra $1.28 for the convenience of PayPal, I would be delighted to take a check, which will only cost you a first class stamp.

Two vials and shipping $57.58 by check, $59.60 via PayPal.
Three vials and shipping $82.22 by check, $84.98 via PayPal.
Four vials and shipping $114.86 by check, $118.59 by PayPal.

I just got word from Level Developments. Along with everybody else in the world, they've been affected by COVID-19. Our vials are currently in production, but they are working with reduced staffing. So they expect to ship about mid-April. I will keep everybody informed as I learn more.

I will also start contacting everybody individually to confirm that I have names and shipping addresses correct, and to acknowledge payment again for those who have paid. For those who have not paid, I'll add a reminder of the amount due.

The vials have passed through US Customs and, if things go according to plan, DHL will deliver them to me on Friday, 24 April. The majority will leave my hands again on Monday, headed to you via USPS.

I've just sent out emails (where I know the email address) or PM private messages (where I don't) to everybody in the group buy. For folks who send payment, it's the final double-check of vial count and shipping address. For folks who haven't yet paid, it's a request for payment and shipping info.

Please check your email or PM inbox. If you didn't receive something from me dated around 9PM Pacific today, please contact me.

All paid orders have shipped! Check your email or PM private message inbox for tracking numbers.

If, by chance, the tracking number is for a shipment headed to the wrong city, DON'T PANIC. I probably just made a cut and paste error when putting together the last batch of emails. The spreadsheet and email programs I am using are not friendly with one another. Contact me (email strongly preferred over PM private message) and I'll get you the correct tracking number.

Now that things have shipped, I will be cashing checks.

One unpaid order is packed and ready to go on receipt of funds.

I'd like to thank you all for your patience and support over the last three months (!). I'm very glad this is over. Enjoy the precision level vials.

Anything still unpaid? I’d take it if they don’t pay up

Nope, everything was paid for. And you would have been 3rd in line after a couple of other folks with the same request.

I suspect most of the "pent up demand" has been satisfied, but maybe we can do another group buy in a few years.

I certainly agree with this! I replaced the original vial in my Starrett model 98 with this new one, and it is very sensitive.

I think this converts to about .0008"/foot, which is a sweet spot on the practical/usability scale.

The vial you got will be .0002"/10" or .00024"/foot

Like trying to clock in something with a micron comparator clock where even being within a thou is outside the travel

The 0.02mm/m vials are definitely sensitive. As practical matter, use a less sensitive level first to get things in the ballpark.

Level Developments makes some vials even more sensitive, by the way. I'm sure they would not if there were not a (specialty) market for them.

I guess that, with all the discussion in this thread before any deadline for buying the vials, everybody who bought them should have known what they were doing.
Now enjoy your very sensitive, hard to use vials.
One caveat: before scratching your head too much, probably it would be a waste of your time mounting one of it on a flimsy casting, like a Starrett 98, since likely it is not rigid enough not to deform within the range of sensitivity of this vial (have you ever wondered why all the precision levels have much more substantial castings than the less accurate ones?).
