    thanks alot!The machine is a little bit worn the tailstock a bit low too...i am thinking of removing the feed screw and adding a leadscrew 20 mm right hand 4 mm pitch...i will make a half nut and attach to the lathe a servo motor and an els....dont have the time right now to do it...i also find very hard to find the right equipment for scraping the cross slide....too expensive and cant find it localy....maybe in germany they have more reasonable prices?

    Pikolo i can borrow to you a straight edge and some tooling necessary to scrape
    your cross slide, we are not far away .I have a UMA17 like yours , 1970 build
    but i am missing the manual .

    Pikolo, for ideas on an electronic lead screw, check out the you tube videos by clough42. No relation, but his videos are clear and we'll explained.

    I have bought alla the parts needed but i dont know which is the best Idea...i mean i have two problems...the one is makingvthe feed rod into a leadscrew and the other is mounting the sensor to the spindle...any ideas?Is there a way that the feed rod can cut threads?
