    Default Machine Tool Remachining

I recut the surfaces on a Monarch lathe carriage and cross slide to remove scoring and wear and reestablish alignments as per the factory as best as I could follow. I shot video of all of it and thought some here might find it useful or interesting. It was certainly a challenging job for me. I hope you enjoy and feel free to ask questions if you have any. There is a second part video currently uploading that should be in the same playlist in a few days.

I am totally shocked how you can trust a measuring on this complete rusty surface plate
Did you really measure with all the dirt on the slide

That old plate has been well stoned and all that is left is the rust stains in the low scraped spots. It actually is not too bad. It is plenty good for figuring out what way things are going which is all I used it for. The actual inspection was done on my Granite plate. The cast iron is my general setup and the granite is reserved for final checks.
