For me, 30 or 36 would be fine, 24 too short, 48 way more than needed.

[QUOTE=dgfoster;3404308]JST, I have several 36’s in stock. I sell them as raw castings and machined castings and have listed them on eBay.

36" Lightweight Cast Iron Camelback Straight Edge Featherweight Raw Casting | eBay

Even thought the SE is quite lightweight, it’s sole is 3” wide and designed to reach under a vee-way and its deflection is less than a tenth when loaded with 25 pounds at its center when supported on 1-2-3 blocks at its ends. They are properly thermally stress-relieved.

Machined the sole sole usually comes out less than 2 thou deviation from a flat plane. I promise 4 though to give some wiggle room. See the various listings on eBay by searching “Featherweight Straight Edge”

Usually members here buy direct from me and I give them a 10% discount as I save on eBay charges that way. Feel free to contact Lucky7, sfriedberg, thermite all of whom have publicly reported purchases from me. There are others who chose to maintain radio silence. ;-)

I ship the SE’s in a very robust fitted wood box. Shipping UPS to St Louis would be less than 100 dollars—-the cost of shipping to NY.

    Denis

Look in the list as I have my castings there too, listed under King Scraping. I offer a discount to forum members too. I have used straight-edges too. I don't have my no angle SE's on there. HK-36 Mine is light too, 33 pounds and size is 35 7/8" L x 2 1/4 W x 7 1/2" H. I have them in stock too. I also sell my DVD & HSB sticks on scraping and the Connelly book on HK-36. 36" HKA-36 CAMEL-BACK SCRAPING STRAIGHT EDGE CASTING With 45 DEG. ANGLE | eBay

Uhhh.. only PART of it "public", 'til you brought it up. Connelly's book, your younger and far less hostile CD, and a Biax blade that you'd not have been aware was actually destined for adaptation to an air-powered scraper of my acquaintance.

As to "discount" I remember an odd laugh and the pontifical pronouncement that you'd have charged me EXTRA if you had but known in advance that I wasn't just one more customer with a several-generations long family history of diabetes, suggesting it was an affliction sore deadly to simply defy, but who I "seem to be" on PM, rather!

Denis is making better SE's, now. In the Iron. For the pure joy of doing that so very well. Not as a brag.

I seriously doubt he is recovering even his out-of-pocket costs, let alone a sou for labour. Might want to take advantage of his generosity while there is still time?

just deal with that, relax, let Alex mind the store. Get your rod, reel, bait, lures and tackle box.
    Go fission.

Just found a bunch or replies that got into my spam filter and were not seen.

I will be getting back to you, thanks.... I was wondering what was going on until I looked there.

It has been replaced by a lovely and LIGHTER D.G. Foster heirloom, so never used even once since scraped, save for a nick I seem to have wanged into one edge. Which I have dressed.

Yours, first dibs, for wotever I paid for it, which was not a lot. $200? Email me if interested. - PM box is permanently full.

Pretty sure I even still have a fitted plywood crate that ships it FRB or UPS easily enough.

Get a D.G. Foster - milled - and use as-is or scrape-final you want one worthy of real use and/or museum case display. None better, and Denis won't be making them "forever".
If he doesn't want it, I am very interested, and I'll be passing through Virginia within a month or so...

Replied to your email just before I went out for vittles. Might be in the trap again?

I think we have a go. Gots to send him some photos.

But "your next" if he has a better offer. All good so long as PM gains. I'm not into epraying or other fleamarketeering as a "vendor" meself. Too much like work!
