Hi All,

I'm in the process of renewing the Z axis ballscrew on my Wasino A8 lathe. I'm stuck at the removal of the ballscrew assembly. It looks like the mount at the base casting is stuck. I removed the servo and the 4 SHCSs holding it. Looks like there are 2 4mm jack screw holes to help with removal. No luck getting it to budge. Used plenty of PB Blaster. Am I missing something? Photo attached.

TIA,

Roger

On my hurco VMC the other end of the ballscrew is supported by a bearing and the end of the screw is retained with a circlip. Once that was removed it was possible to move the table against it's stop by rotaingthe screw and then "keep going" to use the screw to press the thrust bearing pair out of the casting that retains them.
It's hard to tell from your picture, but I think that thrust bearing (or pair) is underneath the ring retained by those 4 SHCS. remove the SHCS and use the screw to "unscrew itself out".
The lockring you see is for the preload on the thrust bearings.
Hope that helps!
