Default new forum rules of conduct

Rules for posting, no comments that are interpreted as personal attacks on another person or company will be tolerated. An example would be to call another person stupid or to take a stance that the person you are commenting to would take as personally derogatory or demeaning.

Also included would be derogatory comments about the country of origin of the person or company you are discussing. Complaints and arguments are expected and allowed but be mindful of your comments.

Well just wanted to get it down on paper before the fur flys. I am very tolerant and I hope this works out well. I never mind a bit of friendly ribbing or tweeked nose but some members have been known to be very abrasive and negative to others and I dont tolerate that sort of thing.

Any offense will get a private message from me with a kind word to edit your post. Or if ignored then it will get locked. Simple as that.

Glad to see this done.. Does not take much, for a simple debate to get nasty in a hurry. Only once have I been the target of a real verbal assault... I typed out at least a dozen responses, but never sent them, decided to take the high road, rather than escalate the issue..

From what I see, the alignment part of scraping is basically akin to metrology...in the field...without a CMM....not temperature controlled....and so chasing after uber precision and ever smaller gnats' asses seems to provoke arguments. You can't see at that level and so there's a large level of abstraction. Models have a lot of assumptions...so I'd add its great to discuss technical merits of this and that, some people are very passionate about their work, no need to try to quench that...but leaving out the various "shots over the bow" is a good way to start. Ultimately what's left here is a library of sorts, for future tinkerers to study and learn, we want future generations to think we were skilled AND classy

Grow up. If you're older than, um, let's see, ummm.... 16, then you should know that it takes all kinds. I may be one of the biggest a$$holes on the site, but I do not post anything that I won't stand behind.

I can't stand all the schumcks who think they are special, and "can't be spoken to" like that. Get over it.

    Did I offend you????

    Good. Suck it.

That rule might work for us normal people like me and you...But for the others (you know) it might be like telling the owl not to say “Who”

Hope you don't know squat about machine reconditioning. That way none of us will miss you.

Nothing wrong, IMO, of disagreeing about methods, approaches, capability etc. -- without going out of your way to make it personal.

    LOL John....

Actually I would volunteer to be a partner moderator if need be... Once the rules start getting enforced, people will settle down....

That is nice of you RC, I always happy to take ideas or suggestions. I am going to close this sticky tomorrow, I wanted to leave it open for anyone who had a useful question or comment, but I see there are none so I will close it. I agree with you, things will settle down after a week or so and we will probably make a few changes as time goes on.

I look forward to seeing more of your projects here and appreciate your input.

There are great minds at work here, and great minds have strong opinions. (I've heard that Frank Loyd Right was a strongly opinionated caustic individual, does that take away from the beautiful things he designed?) I still try to come from the place, "Take what you can use and leave the rest behind." But I also would not offer any personal opinions about the people who post here.

So wat is the official and blessed name for people that repeatedly show that …
    • they have no clue
    • do not understand any explanation
    • are not willing to listen and even more not willing to learn
    • repeat stupid claims
    • in other words pure are ignorants and idiots.

Is the purpose of a forum to educate/inform people or is it to give a cosy climate for those idiots that always can duck behind forum rules?

Need an example? <censored>: He might be good at licking stamps at the post office or some other job, but for sure he is no machinist. Yet he pretends to be one, and have engineering knowledge and thus leads others who actually want to learn into confusion.

So what is the official name for someone like this?

    Nick
