Ohio Scraping Class - Summer of 2018

Hello all,

I have been talking to a few people about doing a class in Ohio or Western PA. I asked John Sanders who is NYC CNC on You Tube and he has volunteered to lend us his spare workspace in his shop in Zanesville OH. About 1 hour east of Columbus OH.

As of now we haven't picked a date. Just giving everyone a heads up. My son Alex is now helping me with the organization of my classes plus he has been working with me all his life...so he will eventually be teaching the classes after I retire. If anyone is interested this will be the only summer class I will be teaching in the summer of 2018.

I was fortunate enough to take Richards class the last time he was at Johns shop. I assure you that you won't be disappointed in either Richards class or John's facility. I've been in Johns shop a few times and its one of the cleanest facilities I've been in.

Want to learn the basics of Machine Rebuilding? This should be one hell of a class as it is in Central Ohio inside a very modern shop hosted by one of the machine tools exciting You Tuber - John Saunders who's channel is called NYC CNC. He has many modern CNC machines and several good older conventional machines. You will learn to hand scrape,how to level and align a lathe, how to test, adjust and if need scrape a gib, how to scrape Turcite, how to 1/2 moon oil flake. You will meet several other people who are interested in this and are either hobbyists or professionals interested. John will give you a tour of his shop and I am sure answer any CNC related or machining questions. We are doing the class, but need 4 to 5 more students. we now have 5 students coming. We still have 2 slots open now and are accepting students who want to pay by the day. I used to squeeze everything in a 3 day class but when students wanted to bring a personal project like a lathe compound, straight-edge, angle block we extended it to 5 day. I would say this is probably the last class we will teach in mid Ohio. Rich

We ended up with 7 students and here are some pictures. Our next class is next month in Nowata Oklahoma and we have openings. We will be teaching a basic class & advanced class back to back weeks. Working on a big VTL or HBM.
