Thought this was a pretty cool find. I went to pick up some small machinist blocks i won at a local auction. This straight edge was sitting nearby. It wasn't in the auction so i asked what the deal was and the local rep said it wasn't in the auction and asked if i wanted to by it. How much i ask. He gives a price i couldn't pass up so i bought it.

Anyone have any information about Monarch Tools? Roberts Machine Co?
Thanks jeff

Neither one, but.

The PATTERN is awfully close to - if not identical - to one I bought from PM member ewsley and just recently sold to PM member JST.

That one had neither a label nor markings in the casting.

I thot it resembled a "Challenge" brand.

Decent SE, whomever made it, just heavier than the brand-new Denis Foster one that replaced it.

I think the six footer I got from Hendeyman is one of those - I'll take a look later today

Yep - identical label

john,

cool to know that there are others out there. I'm not sure how much I'll use mine but for 50 bucks it was hard to pass up! I'll clean it up at some point. for now I'll consider the dust and grime to be rust prevention. lol

Nice Pick! I like the thickness of the base. It will make it heavy but much more stable I have a 6' in the shop but the base is about 1/2" thick. It is not the most stable for me.

I didn't need or want another surface plate but saw this one at a local auction and once i saw "Monarch Tools" on it like the straight edge I had to snatch it up!
