    Default Richard Kings May class

After 3 days so far at Richards class, i have nothing but great reveiws. After struggling with trying successfully hand scrape and flake, some expert instructions from Richard, success has been had! Half of my plate was hand flaked and half was power flaked. Cant wait for more good examples of bad examples thats how we learn!
And for Stephan, that barb wire fixed me too lol!

The May class is over and the 3 students were scraping like masters on Day5. Turbo scraped a Durabar straight-edge to .00002" coplanor. He brought his Federal electron level. Turbo owns and operates a Engine Rebuild shop in Windom, MN and has helped rebuild some Berco Crank Grinders.
Here are a few pictures. We have 2 students coming to the June Class, so we have room for 1 or 2 more. PM me for info. Rich

    A few more pictures: L to R
    1) Josh from New Hope MN scraping his angle block in his cool Rigid Jaw-horse, 2) Paul a Retired Marine and now Architect, scraping his Bridgeport Saddle preparing it to match fit it to the table. 3) He had the top and sides ground at R&D Machine Rebuilding in Roberts, WI before the class and wanted to learn to scrape geometry on the table. 4) Paul mic'ing table so top and bottom are co-planer. 5) Paul marking the end of table. It was about .005" low (worn) in middle when he started 6) Paul scraping ends. He is an amazing scraper, he can switch to left hand shooting in case he gets wounded as he said Marines are trained

Thanks for the expert instruction Richard, not to mention the great stories and of course jokes. I got some questions answered and im sure will have many more.
When using that electronic federal gauge the heat kicked on and was blowing across the plate I was measuring on,moved the part 20 to 50 millionths and when it shut off it settled back. good to see in person the effects of measuring to that extent. I would highly recommend this class to anyone wanting to improve their skills. And you might even learn about barbwire lol.

Thank You Scott.... It's easy to teach a guy who is so sharp, like you :-) I hope your dogs surgery went well today.

For those interested in taking a class. I have another one starting on June 16 - 20 here in Cottage Grove, MN

We have 2 signed up now and can accept 2 more. Were talking about classes in July and August, then one in Springfield VT in September. We are hoping the Canadian border is open by then as before Covid we had 3 students interested.

The June class starts on June 16th and 2 of the 4 have not written me back. So if anyone wants to come we will have room. It starts on a Wednesday. I have a window AC unit as it has been in the 90'shere already. If anyone wants to come to a few days we can work it out.
