Scraping aluminum?

Would it be feasible to scrape aluminum? This would just be for geometry and alignment, not as a bearing surface.
 
Sure....you would sharpen the blade with a neg rake of 15 to 20 so it slides and cuts. I would do the push and lift or scoop method. Experiment with the rake and grind the radius 60 or 40.
 
Thanks. I recall you said 10-15 points per inch for a linear rail mounting surface. Would this be the same in aluminum as for cast iron?
 
If your mounting linear rails...points are not important it is a percentage contact surface. You can scrape to 5 and stone, file or emery cloth it for percent and alignment. If your looking for ,0001" or better you could scrape 20 ppi and then do above. Depending on design and stability It's unlikely I would use aluminum on anything precision.
