Nothing really special here, I recently won at auction some big Lathe face plates, I kept the biggest 72 cm. I then scored a hydraulic lift platform rated at 500 kgs. So with a bit of welding and drilling I have an adjustable scraping, welding platform. And picked up a couple of unused granite straight edges. Next week I pick up a 1mtr x 1mtr surface plate. Over here in Aus granite surface plates are hard to come by and fetch top dollar. Even new are hard to source.

G'day Rich,
My mentor is Phil Machtool, Top bloke, I attended the last course that Phil and Marko ran. Phil is a legend over here in AUS. The only dedicated guy who is willing to pass on his knowledge and so much more.
I have a 3 foot camel back straight edge and a smaller straight edge, then a
straight edge with dovetail face, specifically for bridge ports. Phil ground hit these up. I have finished up the scraping on these. My next project will be the cross slide on my, Elliott lathe. Beast, 50mm spindle bore, 48 to 4000 rpm. All steel chucks, multifix tool post.Cheers from down under. Have a hand scraper and a medium Biax. Lapping set up for diamond paste. i have a copper disk gives a really nice mirror finish.

Yes Phil is a hell of a nice guy (bloke) I was just saying a while ago I would love to come down there and teach a class with them. My friend and student Jan S from Norway stopped into see him last summer when he was down there on a business trip. Said he had a great rebuild shop. When I do finally retire, the wife and I want to visit the south Pacific Islands and we hopefully can stop down under too. I spent 10 days down there sightseeing in 1971. G-Day :-)

Yep we have everything here, beautiful beaches, awesome hard core 4x4, beautiful mountains, beaches with miles and miles of golden sand, Then the most deadly critters, we have the most deadliest snakes in the world, don't mention our spiders, and really big sharks and Crocks. Come on down. I know we would have guy's lined up to say hi. Cheers Bruce
