I'll make a list of what I have and post it here.

There will definitely be interest. Are you willing to ship?
Thanks, sure if you're willing to pay.

I'd be interested. Jeff

Still working at a regular job.

Nice scraping on the double V....
Thanks, take some work to get it hitting on the ends.

Interested in tools you might have for DeVlieg or L&S Powerturn.
Don't really have any machine specific tools or power scrapers.

Is the box for sale? How much?
Thank you
Keith

Yes it is. I paid $1,380 for it ten years ago. It's been inside and never really used. I still have the original box for shipping. Like to get $1,000. for it. The bench is just as nice. I want to move everything, so any reasonable offers will be considered.

Ok thank you for the reply. More than I can spend on it, but it certainly looks new in the pic

I used to work with an old guy who'd served in the Fleet Air Arm in the 1939-45 war. He served on HMS Campania, which was an escort carrier. They had been equipped with lend/lease Grumman Wildcats. Along with the aircraft they also got plenty of spares and tools etc from the USA. The toolboxes that came over were " Gerstner " boxes.

Get your hankies out now guys - when the time came for the Wildcats to be replaced they were pushed over the side into deep water - and the toolboxes went with them ! My pal tried to buy one but the orders were to throw everything over the side.

Regards Tyrone.

Oh man, you didn't have to tell us that! Ack! :willy_nilly:

He told me this story was when I was working with him in the early 1970's. I'd never heard of " Gerstner " boxes over here, it was all mainly " Moore & Wright " and some " Starrett ". He'd written to " Gerstner " in the US after the war and they'd sent him a brochure which he brought into work to show me.

He had a tear in his eye when he told me about throwing the boxes overboard.

I believe a lot of this sort of thing went on at the end of the war. It was to protect the home market apparently.

Regards Tyrone.
