Stuck key removal

Any tips on getting this stuck #7 woodruff key out? It is pretty chewed up over time. Has to come out to pull the rod from the case. Have used kroil and inductance heat, which got it hot enough to boil out the kroil. Tapped each side with a punch . It sticks out just far enough to get a needle nose on it that slips when you pull. Thanks

Take a quality pair of Vise-Grips (one with hard jaws), grind the jaws flush, then with a slight bevel on the inner jaw faces to create a "nipper" profile. Use this to clamp down as far as you can on the key, adjust the grip as tight as you can (like a vise!), and pull/gently rock the key out.

If this fails grind the key flush, remove rod, recut keyway.

Weld a post or 2 on it and pull on it. Or weld a tab on one end so you can pry it up.

Clean up sides with a file, then hit one end with a punch to roll it out. Or use a sharp pair of side cutters, grab and lever out.

Tap a small hole thru it and push it out with a jack screw

Chances are there's no need to drill and tap. Most times if you drill a small hole you can tap the key out
with a punch...
