Default Video, Planing a lathe bed

My friend Rees Acheson here in New Hampshire has just posted a new video of him planing a lathe bed on his Gray planer he rebuilt and converted to hydraulic operation.

Rees is a very good engineer, excellent machinist and super nice guy. He has some great stories of when he was young running a big planer in Bridgeport CT at one of the shops down there back in the early 70's. Check out the scraping on the ways on the planer, you should see it in person! That machine also has a Mitutoyo DRO installed.

Looks like a nice little HBM there in the background too. :-)

Small Universal 3" I think. Sweet rig for a small small shop. Thanks for stopping by Brian.

That was fascinating to watch, description in the videos well worth a read too. The wide tool taking the whole surface was very cool.
I was wondering what the feed rate might be? Next to scraping, about an hour per stroke perhaps .

    Cheers
