ACME Gridley 6 spindle auto lathe - Craigslist

Growing up in the 80's in an industrial area of New England, several of my classmates had one at home or at least a brownie. After class had to run home and tend them.

Can't criticize, I ran the families cheese grater and dough mixer. Looking back the multi spindle was probably a lot safer.

I was in a machinery rebuild shop in Reading, PA last year.
They were completely rebuilding a couple of the Gridley 6 spindle lathes, but replacing all the cams with servo actuators. They were building fully CNC machines for some very high production hydraulic component machining. I guess the original machines were already 30 years old or more.
Some pretty interesting engineering going on there.
