I’m selling my K&T 3H milling machine. I’m a hobby machinist, and ended up buying a smaller Rockwell 21-122 that’s more “my size”. We may be moving in the next couple of years, and the K&T has been a topic of anxiety for my wife whenever we talk about moving my shop...
Anyways, the mill is SN 3695, built in 1942. 7 1/2 HP 3 phase motor. It’s in good shape, and all of the speeds and feeds work great. I’ve had to replace the vertical head hand wheel clutch dog (probably the wrong term) and fix a broken spring in the feed mechanism, but the repairs went well and work great. All of the oil sight glasses have been replaced, and all the oilers except the knee show oil flow when running. The knee oil gets “worked up” during running so I know something is moving some oil around in there, but I don’t know if everything or nothing is actually getting lubricated properly from the pump in the knee, and I don’t have the right tools/rigging equipment to pull the knee apart and investigate further. I did a kerosene flush last year, and replaced all the oil with Lubriplate HO-2. It also has new belts. You can run it and make some chips if you’re interested.
It comes with a lot of tooling, including a 50 to 40 NMBT adaptor, a lot of 40 taper tool holders (5/16, 1/4, 3/8, 5/8, 3/4, 7/8, 1 1/4), a Criterion boring head, 4” or 5” indexable face mill, slotting saw arbor, some #2 Morse taper adaptors, ER32 collet holder (no collets), and a drill chuck. It also comes with a K&T vice. The vice is missing the handle, but comes with a wrench. I think it has 8” jaws, and opens to 6 or 8 inches.
I’ll also throw in a large 18” Troyke rotary table for my asking price. The RT has a lot of flash rust so it will take a little work to clean it up, but it’s tight and in really good condition otherwise. It didn’t come with a hand wheel, but I’ll include one that will need to be bored out to fit. I may continue to clean it up and trade it for a smaller vertical/horizontal one for my new mill.
I can also throw in my phase converter for an extra $600 dollars if needed. It’s a 10 HP Baldor idler with push button start, balancing and power factor correction capacitors, etc.
