This 1947 machine is solid and accurate. It was totally rebuilt in the early 1990's, ways ground, all gibs replaced and scraped in and calibrated. The DC drive was upgraded to solid state at this time. It does has some surface rust from being in a moist environment, not on the ways. At the moment there seems to be an issue with the DC controller, I believe someone with a little electronic experience would be able to remedy the situation easily. There is a schematic with the manufacturer info. which may make troubleshooting easier.

Not to hijack your ad, but would you mind sharing who made the DC drive?

Doesn't matter. There isn't a lot of "antique" value to it like old vacuum-tube console radio sets, early-days mainframe computers, nor Strowger Switch telephone exchanges.

No one with even a VERY DAMNED "little" electronics experience would even bother powering it on before gutting it for a proper replacement.

:)

It is the condition of the LATHE one should be looking at.

Bed regind, even nearly 30 years ago could still be a very nice machine.
