Hello,

I have four CNC lathes that I am looking to sell in order to make room for some newer machines that I have purchased. The nature of our work has changed over the years, and these machines are no longer the right fit for us. I'll be making separate posts for each machine. Contact me through private message or through the craigslist link. (I'll add link tomorrow.)

All machines are located at our shop in Round Lake, IL.

Mori Seiki ZL-15 4-axis CNC Lathe with Two Turrets. Local pickup only.

$9500

Very reliable machine that easily holds close tolerances.

Two turrets allows you to do some unique things that a single turret machine would not.

  • Pinch turning
  • Using bottom turret as a steady rest
  • Doing two operations at once such as threading on one turret while the other is grooving, or boring on one while the other is turning
  • Indexing to the next tool and bringing it up to the work while the other turret is cutting which eliminates tool index times

Currently running in our shop. See video below to watch it run. Feel free to contact us to schedule a time to come see it run in person. Please contact us with any questions you might have.

1-5/8 inch bar capacity

A2-5 spindle nose

5000 rpm max

Spindle liners

3 phase, 220 V

36 kVA

Measures 115" long (150" with chip conveyor) x 62" deep

Most will want more information:

Year of manufacture
Weight
Footprint
Where in Illinois is it located?

Nice clean looking machine for it's age, good pics.

Thanks, Dualkit. It is a nice, clean machine. I will miss it.

I added the dimensions and location to the original post.

I never included the year and weight because I'm not really sure of either. I looked through all my records on the machine, and all I could find was one handwritten note saying that the machine was from 1988. Based on what I see online of other, similar machines, that seems to be about right.

I'm estimating the machine to weigh about 12,000 lbs based on the information provided in other listings. It's a heavy box way machine. :)

The year it was made is stamped on the plate on the back of the machine.

Some pics inside the control cabinet would be good.

Also, do you have all the manuals and electrical schematics?

I used to have a ZL-45, great machines.

I found the tag, but there is nothing filled in where the year should be.

Here are the books I have:
Mori Operation Manual for the control
Mori Parts List
Fanuc Operator’s Manual
Electrical Circuit Diagram
parameter lists

I bet that ZL-45 was a brute.

Here's the control cabinet

If anyone is interested in this machine, I encourage you to contact me asap because we will be renting a larger forklift next week that we could use to load this machine at no cost to you. Other than that, you would most likely need to pay for a rigger.

I still have the machine. We decided to keep it for now. Send me a message if you're interested.
