Extra zero on the price?

I had one of those, 6TA, and do love them but it’s a total dinosaur. 2x lathe weighing 14k with a small workpiece envelope for the footprint and Getty DC drives. Five-digit price is absurd.

I had one of those. I got it free for hauling it away.

TL was a strange machine. Not really a slant bed. Chip control sucks.

This is a slant bed and have had no problem with the chip control.
It is a real work horse ready to go to work under power.
It's defiantly not a Hobby machine or one you would want in a small workshop.

When you compare it to the SL series you will realize what Garwood was saying. You have chips laying behind the spindle. Doesn't happen on a SL. It is a TL5-2000, most were shorter versions. It is probably still good iron but the smoke pipes are getting a little old.

IIRC the 4" tunnel was the big bore version TL-5B?

I had 2 of them. Both 80" beds. They are much more of a flat bed than a slant bed like the SL or ZL series.

But they are workhorses, great for long parts. I replaced one with a TL-40, which was the follow-on to the TL-5.

The OP's machine was worth 10K.... back around 1995...
