I have a brand new, never used South Bend 10K UMD lathe (catalog number CL 370RDA) purchased in 11/1984. The original owner was a friend of my parents, and he was in his 80's when he decided it was time to start downsizing. He bought this lathe because it made him happy just to look at it. He never ever turned on the motor, because he didn't even take the time to figure out how it worked.
Chance of a life time to own a piece of machinist history. An item like this probably will never again come up for sale. With this lathe you don't have to worry about what kind of abuse it was subjected to, or if reconditioned, was it done properly or was it done by a used care salesman.
Serious buyers only, and to arrange inspection of the lathe, only time available is M-F 9am – 5pm. Located in North Seattle. Cash only. $11,000. Email any questions and to set up an appointment for a viewing. Shipping not included.

It comes with the following items purchased at the same time – all listed on a receipt (also, they appear never used):
1. CL 2680NK MILLING ATTACHMENT
2. CL 758NK PLAIN CARRIAGE STOP
3. CE 1625 TEFLON LUBE

How cool! Very interesting sale. Obviously targeting the collector. I am curious to see how the sale of this special lathe panes out. Good luck on this and 'good on you' for doing it justice in the ad, well presented :)

Keep dropping, your about halfway to what it will actually sell for.

If it is made in Korea I don't think anyone from here is going to pay museum piece prices for it. Just my opinion.

I owned a very nice 1984 south bend 10k lathe, it didn’t come with as many accessories as this one, but I think I paid about 2,000 for it 6 or 7 years ago.

I've been watching this over on Seattle CL. It's an interesting problem in economics, how to price this machine. Demand is high for small South Bends but a lot of that is because they're cheap. This one isn't cheap. I personally have forgotten too much SB lore to know if this machine was made overseas.

I have a nice Nardini 14x40 with DRO. I have under $5k into it. It has to be 10 times the lathe this one is. I've owned 3 South Bends.

Maybe if you found just the right buyer. But I don't think you've gotten down to the real price point yet. No harm in taking your time.
