Thanks for the tip, it does look good. Unfortunately like you said, way too far from me. Too big for my shop anyway

Default Shaggy Sag 12 Search - UPDATE

Guys, just want to report that I'm very close, at last, to aquiring my Sag 12, thanks to dalmatiangirl61 seeing a nice-looking one and very kindly pointing it out to me.

I'll update in a brand-new thread once I have the fair machine in my crusty claws

In the meantime, I'd still love to hear of the whereabouts and, if possible, the history of any other Sag 12 that might come to light. PM me, or post here.

Many thanks to all who posted and assisted me in my quest

Because this is the Wanted to Buy / Sell forum, where I was seeking help in finding a particular machine to buy.

Once I get the new machine home I hope it'll deserve a thread of it's own in the specific machine forum, where people relate experiences with mechanical issues, etc.

Possibly more to the point, someone new to PM wouldn't come to the WTB/Sell forum looking for mechanical info - they'd search the specific machine forum(s).

For anyone who's been following this thread and is still interested, there'll be a link to the new thread.

    Thanks!

After working on a SAG with the electronic shifting I'd never own one. 4 or was it 6 electromagnet clutches in an oil bath, wires were brittle and cracked, needle bearings not standard sizes, etc.
To many other nice machines out there to even consider one of these.

Hmm, thanks for your input. That's certainly worth throwing into the mix, depending on how the auction goes. I'm waiting on a call from the machine instructor at the college to find out more before I make a final bid.

Those sound like features not bugs to an old Ducati guy like myself! Anyhow, this particular machine has no electrical, clutch or gearbox issues, according to the instructor who ran it.

Btw I'd like to know where you're seeing so many other nice machines, 'cause I'm not, and I've been looking hard. Though admittedly for a specific size and type.
Come to think of it... just like this one

Hardinge built a very highly regarded machine which also had some of these.

woohoo! Now you just need to take that chuck off the top of the headstock and replace it with an expresso machine and you're set
