I cleaned up a special device and took some pictures.
Internally there are 6 different spirals, marked with 80, 100, 120, 160, 180 and 200.
With the pin on the side, by pressing, you can choose to take the path of one of these spirals with you.
On the front there is a cylindrical hole of 16 mm where, for example, a cutter can be secured with a socket.
At the rear there are 24 notches divided over 360 °, so that a rotation can be made every 15 °.
Can it be a spiral grinding attachment?

Spiral grinding is questionable; too many different pitch/ helix combinations. The 15° would index end grinding. Manual flute sharpening is dependent on a finger riding in the original pattern in every case I recall. And from this view, setting cutting edge or clearance would be tedious. The 16mm bore could use bushings for other diameters, but that limits use.
