We did purchase the floor model and a in stock machine that we get to start playing with tomorrow. The expansion and 2nd machine will be delivered in December along with the MMC that was on the floor. We are waiting for the new building to be able to install the MMC, i don't have the floor space right now. So far the tech that installed this machine was super, he said he should be the one installing the MMC as well. they were very thorough and seemed knowledgeable about the products they were installing. So far, im stoked..

So you added the 1st Makino at the existing shop? And hopefully you sell the Mats so you don't have to move those? Sounds like exciting stuff going on! I also agree that we need pics.

I was curious, if it was not explained. And since I am looking at a new cnc horizontal soon. Why did you ditch the pc11 matsuura for the makinos? Was there anything specific you did not like about the pc11?

Definitely nothing wrong with the Matt's, we are changing the way we think manufacturing wise and a MMC just makes sense for us moving forwards.

Glen, you are really dropping the ball here man, we need pictures

Why did install take so long? I'd like to see what the tool Matrix is like on that machine along with the chip and coolant management related systems.

I've spent most of the last week revamping the coolant system on my fms, I'm now pumping over 110gpm with all systems on

I'm curious who installed it for you. I used to know a lot of the techs for Makino. Where is your shop located?

We are making some chips! Lets put it this way, I thought the matsuura's were pretty ridged and cut great. they spent allot of time at 90% spindle load range. On the makino we are able to take the same program and turn the feed override to 200% . Spindle is under 90% and cuts very smooth but stupidly fast. I'm not sure what it will do to the cycle times as we are just running product for a couple runs proving it out, then swapping to the next so all product is setup on tombstones when the MMC is ready. Install has taken forever but im very excited!

That is ridiculous, but it reinforces the anecdotal evidence that I have come across that Makino is the platform to beat in the 400 -500mm production horizontal segment.

Really? You left the spindle speed the same and just cranked up the feed double? There is some missing info there... That said the Makino A51 is a 400mm machine and not a 300mm like your Matsuuras. Did you get the 14k spindle in your Makino or the 20K?

Still looking forward to the pictures

I'm trying to get the pics off of this stupid smart phone right now. Going to put a gopro inside when I run something I can show ya.

Spindle RPM is 1000rpm lower than matts. 15k on matts, 14k makino.. No other missing info, same tool holder and same tool. Makino does have 30hp spindle vs 20 on matts but damn... This look ahead is kick ass smooth running!

Here are some pics. Its pretty tough getting far enough away from it to get a decent picture. Too many machines too close to it! This is the first of 2, the MMC and other machine will be in mid December Proof its real at least
